Our Community Efforts

Islam Alive has always been involved in Relief work and rises to any opportunity to serve the community. Below are some of the projects that we’ve been involved in over the years.

The Community Feeding Scheme

Supporting the local community

The feeding scheme has been in operation for almost three years. This is a community initiave that was started by a group of young men that were unemployed. Their intentions were noble and Allah cleared their road, enabeling them to rake up (Amongst them) enough funds to cook their first deg (Feeds appr.100 people) Alhamdulillah, ever since then this group of men did not look back.

Currently and collectively this scheme with it's humble begining now prepares between 10 and 20 degs of food monthly. With this over 2 000 people of all race colour and creed are fed monthly. The scheme depends purely on funds from the public. Islam Alive only became active over the last 14 months and only contributes a fraction of what is needed to keep this noble cause running. Your contributions in this respect will be highly appreciated. Kindly refer to our events calendar to find our respective feeding dates. This is one of the few orginizatons that has no Boss but only Workers.

Muazzin Dinner

Our blessed muazzins enjoy a quiet evening off

In September 2011 Islam Alive announced its first ever Muazzin Dinner. We hosted approximately 180 Muazzins together with their families to enjoy a 6 Course Meal with us. Through the Grace of our Creator and a few sponsors Islam Alive spared no cost in putting together this amazing event. It was by far an event that had made a mark on every person that attended. This was not a FUND Raising Dinner, there were no tickets sold, there was no Cost to our Guests at all. It was 100% Free and done only for the pleasure of our Creator, and to mix with these humble servants of our Creator. Again, Islam alive bore the total cost of this event from funds that we generate through our advertisers. Every month we allocate a certain percentage of our income for events of this nature. As we are not a NPO Registered organization we rely purely on our adverts to keep the wheels of our Community Projects turning, without the support of the advertisers we will never be able sustain these and all of our commitments to the under privileged. We are already planning our next Muazzin Dinner for next year, and this time we are going to rally as much support we can from the local community, as our intention is to invite every Muslim and try to cater for at least 300 Muazzins from various localities. We urge the Community to come forward and make this Annual Muazzin Dinner a complete success.

Maintain A Widow

Close to the heart

Islam Alive has been involved in trying to keep the dignity of widows by allowing them to purchase whatever they may need on a monthly basis. We do not make up hampers, but rather allow them the choice of whatever their needs are. They are each handed a voucher to the value of R250,00 which is redeemable at a local Supermarket. Although they have a free rein to make their purchases, their purchases are monitored, in that they may not abuse their vouchers to obtain cigarettes and other luxury items. This is done on a monthly basis and is sustained purely from the proceeds of the magazine. We do not use any PUBLIC funds for this initiave. The funds come from the advertisers that advertise with us. It is rather unfortunate though, that we can only do so much for so few people. However, it is our fervent intention to increase the number of widows that we maintain to at 100 by the end of this year. This can only be done with the continued support of the advertisers. We urge our business community help us achieve this goal by advertising with us.
